Account Manager / Collection Specialist Job Description

The Account Manager is responsible for contacting customers whose Rental Agreements have expired and working with them to maintain the account. While this role involves extensive telephone activity, it is more focused on sales than collections. The primary goal is to re-sell the Rental Agreement and educate the customer, rather than solely collecting payments.

This position offers great pay and benefits, and prior experience in sales, rental, account management, collections, rent-to-own, or automotive sales is highly beneficial for success in this role.

Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Contact customers with expired Rental Agreements to assess their needs, expectations, or issues, primarily via phone, but may include visiting customers' residences for account discussions or merchandise pickup as needed.
  • Demonstrate diligence, urgency, impartiality, and consistency in managing accounts.
  • Follow up with references on accounts that do not return calls.
  • Send letters according to the mail program.
  • Identify opportunities to renew customer agreements.
  • Schedule voluntary merchandise turn-ins when renewing the Rental Agreement is unlikely.
  • Manage field collections and de-installations.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Participation in drug screening and background checks.
  • Prior experience in sales, rental, account management, collections, rent-to-own, or automotive sales is important for success.
