The Director of Hospital Operations is responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency and quality of medical services throughout the practice.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide patient care, surgical/dental, animal restraint, laboratory, and x-ray responsibilities when needed.
  • Assist technicians/assistants, doctors, PCC, and ACA's when
  • Surgical support; including dental prophylaxis and full-mouth dental radiographs, anesthetic induction and monitoring, surgical preparation and postoperative care
  • Navigate within the PIMS to perform any task needed and document appropriately in medical records.
  • Provides logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management.
  • Plans weekly medical team L10, monthly combined DVM/Tech meetings and keeps written notes of discussions and decisions.
  • Oversee all medical staff scheduling while maintaining business

  • Conducts medical audits and collaborates with the Practice Manager and Medical

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 35 years of clinical veterinary hospital experience, with a strong understanding of medical, surgical, and patient care workflows.
  • At least 2 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in a veterinary or medical setting, preferably within a multi-departmental hospital structure.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PIMS/ezyVet or equivalent veterinary practice software, including reporting, scheduling, and performance tracking.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital operations, including workflow design, staff training, and operational efficiency.
  • Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, controlled substance management, and hospital safety protocols.
  • Skilled in triage, patient restraint, medication administration, venipuncture, and anesthesia monitoring; ability to assist in clinical areas as needed.

  • Commitment to confidentiality, ethical conduct, and hospital mission alignment.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Continuing education in leadership, team development, or veterinary management strongly encouraged.
