Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No experience or training is required. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Specification

FUNCTION OF WORK: To protect lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, rendering emergency services, investigating minor crimes, and making arrests when necessary. Provides a limited range of police services. LEVEL OF WORK: Entry. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General from a higher-level police official. Other reporting relationships may be approved by SCS. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. LOCATION OF WORK: Statewide. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from Police Officer 2 by the absence of experienced level duties.
