SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Custodians will maintain a clean and safe working environment at their respective Distribution Center (DC); this position shall focus on excess debris, waste, and dust management that ensures employee safety prompted by clear walkways, dust free racks and shelving, equipment cleanliness, and superior floor surfaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the function of the Custodian, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.
- Performs general and specific cleaning and janitorial duties throughout office and warehouse areas and in the common areas (Kitchens, breakrooms, restrooms etc.) of the facility as assigned by management and/or designee;
- Responsible for completing additional tasks listed on an assigned daily detailed "check list" that focuses on the important of a dust free, safe environment including, but not limited to, clean racks and shelving, clean safety rails through facility, maintain clear walkways free of trash, maintain dust free mechanical equipment, floor maintenance via sweeping, mopping, and/or mechanical floor scrubber/cleaner as scheduled;
- Responsible for waste management including, but not limited to, empty trash cans throughout facility and dispose at the appropriate dumpster outside the facility;
- Must be able to communicate, organize, complete, support and share assigned duties with fellow employees with the same tasks to ensure all assignments are completed on time and as directed by management;
- Handles miscellaneous manual labor in the warehouse as assigned;
- Responsible for operating a steam cleaner or similar device to clean totes;
- Responsible for operating and maintaining the cement floor scrubber or similar cleaning machine for different surfaces;
- Responsible for maintaining neat and orderly equipment and supply room; ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked;
- Performs other related duties as needed without being directed;
- Reports to work on time, as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor, and complete duties in a timely manner;
- Performs above listed duties in a cooperative, capable manner, processing the information effectively and communicating the information as needed effectively;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing light strenuous activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to touch, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift 10, 25, and up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in wet humid conditions, and in outdoor weather conditions. The employee must occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and near toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.
