POSITION SUMMARY:

The Traffic Control Flagger is essential in ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow around construction sites and work zones. This role includes the setup and takedown of traffic control devices, such as signs and cones, to safeguard both workers and the public. You will utilize hand signals, signs, and other methods to effectively guide motorists through or past work areas. This position demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to work outside in varying weather, and stamina to stand for long periods.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Set up signage, cones, and other traffic devices to redirect traffic efficiently.
• Manage traffic flow using stop/slow paddles effectively.
• Maintain open communication with team members through two-way radios.
• Stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods, up to 10 hours a day.
• Lift, carry, push, pull, and move heavy items, often exceeding 50 pounds.
• Operate company vehicles for transporting traffic control equipment to job sites.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles to ensure reliability.
• Work outside in diverse weather conditions and in proximity to moving vehicles and equipment.
• Adapt to moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
• Follow all company policies and procedures diligently.
• Undertake additional duties as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Valid Driver's License.
• Successful completion of background checks, including motor vehicle record checks.
• Pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear required safety gear including safety boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and vests.
• Effectively operate a 2-way radio.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and traffic environments.
• Deliver excellent communication with contractors and team members while ensuring high customer service standards.
• Work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, dependable transportation, and a strong work ethic.
• Complete the ATSSA Flagger training course and company-sponsored Defensive Driver training successfully.
• Be available for statewide travel with occasional overnight stays, and be able to work nights and weekends as project demands dictate.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
