Description:
Responsible for the daily cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments for use in the operating room. This position will work 2:30 pm to 11 pm.

Responsible for the daily cleaning and sterilization of equipment and instruments for use in the operating room. This position will work 2:30 pm to 11 pm.
Essential Job Functions:
- Decontaminates surgical items, assembles, sterilizes and distributes items as needed.
- Ensures efficient operation of sterile processing and assures sterility of instruments and supplies.
- Responsible for identifying and repairing broken instruments and equipment.
- Develops and maintains sterilization logs.
- Performs daily and as needed all biological and chemical tests for sterilization equipment.
- Provides clean and sterile med/surg supplies and equipment to surgery suites and other patient care areas.
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 0-2 years of related experience
- Broad knowledge of OR procedures and comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
- Broad knowledge of all decontamination equipment and sterilization procedures.
The sterile processing technician must be able to engage in physical activities on a daily basis.
- Evidence of negative Mantoux or chest x-ray annually (test will be provided at no cost to the Employee)
- Able to maintain extensive standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and twisting.
- Able to lift a minimum of 20# of surgical supplies and equipment.
- Hepatitis immunization (provided at no cost to the employee). Or documented refusal to be vaccinated.
