The network's school in Texarkana, TX, Theron Jones Elementary, is looking for a SPED teacher. Theron Jones Elementary teachers help students improve academic proficiency and build habits of success. They create a safe and orderly learning environment for students who are assigned to their class and for all the students in the school. They are supervised by the principal and assistant principal.*Texas Special Education Certification requiredThe SPED Behavior teacher responsibilities include:Assess students to determine the need for special education servicesPrepare IEPs or 504s for students who qualifyFollow IDEA regulations and comply with other federal and state laws and policies concerning special education servicesProvide services to assigned students in support of their IEPs and Student Learning PlansPlan, prepare and deliver instructional lessons and activitiesCreate a safe and positive educational climate in which students may learnDevelop Student Learning Plans and support students in accomplishing their learning objectivesTeach an aligned curriculum–be clear about what students need to know and how they will demonstrate what they have learnedMaintain a focus on student academic and performance outcomesUse direct instruction, personalized learning, and special education strategies to help students gain proficiencyDifferentiate instruction and implement Student Learning Plans in a way that maximizes time on task, student engagement, and student learningSupport students in the development of habits of successBe creative in finding on-line resources and materials to supplement instruction and support personalized learningWork with colleagues and the administration to accomplish the school's goals as outlined in the School Action PlanAssess student proficiency, monitor student progress, and provide grades in accordance with school procedures and regulationsRead and stay abreast of current topics in educationUtilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students servedTutor Students on an individual basisObserve and evaluate student's performanceManage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary proceduresCommunicate with and engage parents and families to support student learning and habits of successExpand personal leadership skillsParticipate in professional learning communities and function well as part of a teamPerform other duties as assignedThe Third Future Schools Special Needs Teachers help students improve academic proficiency and build habits of success. Special Education teachers primarily support students with IEPs or 504s, but they also help all students who have challenges learning and raising proficiency. They deliver high-quality instruction and work with colleagues to accomplish the TFS mission and vision. The maximum salary for a teacher with at least three years of demonstrated achievement results is $75,000.*Candidates relocating more than 150 miles are eligible for a $5,000 relocation stipend.
