Job SummaryThis role is responsible for maintaining the total hydrology, steam, gas and sewerage distribution systems throughout the company's facilities, including preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting, using specialized test equipment, hand and power tools.The position requires the employee to perform essential duties satisfactorily, including reading specifications and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.EducationRequired – High School diploma or equivalent.Preferred – Trade school training in plumbing or pipe fitting.Work ExperienceRequired – 2 years of commercial or industrial experience, with experience reading specifications and interpreting schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings, and working with little supervision.CertificationsRequired – Current Louisiana State Journeymen Plumbers License.Preferred – Medical Gas and Back‑Flow Certification.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.Knowledge of state, parish, and southern building codes.Drawing skills to document plumbing changes for updating prints on CADD.Ability to use all power, hand tools and specialized equipment associated with the plumbing/pipe fitting trade.Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal and external callers and visitors.Ability to handle mental and physical stress and pressure to complete all jobs, including emergencies.Ability to work indoors, outdoors, and in restricted spaces involving static postures held for extended periods.Ability to work extended hours and call in on an emergency basis.Job DutiesPerform a variety of repair and installation duties in and around the buildings involving plumbing systems such as water and sewer, steam, air, piped medical gas, vacuum, and fire protection.Perform preventative maintenance on associated plumbing system components and document accordingly to department procedures.Assist outside contractors with plumbing system outages during major utility repairs and/or new construction.Assist other Facilities Management staff with troubleshooting/repairing equipment related to facility infrastructure.Perform other related duties as required.Physical and Environmental DemandsMedium work requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible force up to 10 pounds constantly. The job involves walking or standing, pushing and pulling, and a production pace with constant pushing and pulling of materials. Exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and potential communication disease exposure in a healthcare setting, and hazardous medication or waste exposure are possible.Compliance and StandardsRemains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
