Position OverviewLouisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services, Division of Probation & Parole – Adult, Shreveport District, Shreveport, Louisiana. We are committed to protecting the people of Louisiana with integrity, accountability, and a deep respect for the rights and dignity of all.ResponsibilitiesProvide guidance, technical assistance, and supervision of subordinate personnel; conduct periodic audits, reviews, and conferences to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and legal compliance.Coordinate and supervise a group of Probation and Parole Officers engaged in activities related to the violation process, including planning arrests, transporting violators, coordinating probable cause and revocation hearings.Monitor casework activities to ensure proper use of community resources, enforce general and special conditions, employ counseling, and make sound decisions regarding offender treatment and violations.Conduct new employee orientation, in‑service training, and continuing development for field personnel, journeymen, and specialists.Assist in personnel management: participate in selection, background investigations, disciplinary action administration, supervisory evaluations, and serve as acting manager in absence of the District Manager.Perform special managerial functions, including case assignment, investigations, intake services, and liaison with criminal justice agencies, community service agencies, community‑based and residential facilities.Manage statistical and administrative functions and special purpose programs and projects as delegated by the District Manager.Supervise Probation & Parole Officers and Specialists.QualificationsCompetencies: Accepting Direction, Building and Supporting Teams, Demonstrating Accountability.Three years of experience as a probation or parole officer, or in counseling, psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or administrative services.Plus one of the following: (1) Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; (2) Three years of continuous active military duty; (3) Six years of full‑time experience in any field; or (4) A bachelor's degree.Special RequirementsDisqualified if convicted of a misdemeanor domestic‑violence crime or felony, or under indictment on a felony charge.Must possess a current Louisiana driver's license.Position requires handling and carrying firearms.Must have an active Post certification.Experience SubstitutionEvery 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university counts as one year of experience toward six years of full‑time work experience.Maximum substitution: 120 semester hours (equivalent to four years).Position Specific DetailsAppointment Type: Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS & C – Corrections Services (Adult DOC); may require a trial detail or probationary appointment.Compensation: Special Entrance Rate of $33.78 per hour.Required documents: Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD‑214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
