About This Job

The Institutional Research Analyst is a detail-oriented and motivated academic staff role that supports Institutional Research and Institutional Effectiveness as a member of the Division of Academic Affairs. This position participates in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to support institutional decision-making, strategic planning, and compliance reporting.

This analyst position reports to the Associate Provost and communicates frequently with deans, program directors, and college Assessment Coordinators. This is a full-time, non-classified position that may require occasional evening and weekend hours. This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Analytics, Social Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field. LSUS values skills, experience, and expertise. Candidates who have relevant experience in key job responsibilities are encouraged to apply - a degree is not required if the candidate possesses applicable years of experience. •Previous experience in data analysis, management, and reporting within a higher education setting or similar environment. •Previous experience using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). •Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and communicate complex processes and results to diverse audiences. •Excellent written communication, analytical, organizational skills. •Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications: •Experience in higher education assessment, accreditation, and compliance reporting. •Familiarity with learning management systems and customer relationship management tools (e.g., Moodle, Element 451). •Experience with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics) and survey design. •Ability to build collaborative relationships across academic and administrative units.

Job Duties and Other Information

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Management: Assist in gathering, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources to support institutional research projects.
  • Data Analysis: Perform basic statistical analyses on institutional data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Report Preparation: Assist in preparing reports and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Survey Administration: Support the design, administration, and analysis of surveys to collect data on student success, program outcomes, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Database Maintenance: Help maintain databases and data management systems to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Documentation: Assist in documenting data processes, methodologies, and findings to support transparency and reproducibility.
  • Compliance and Accreditation Support: Help gather and organize data required for accreditation and compliance reporting, including SACSCOC, IPEDS, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Institutional Research Coordinator, Director of Institutional Effectiveness, and other team members to support departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Data Security: Follow best practices in data security to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of institutional data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
