Private Dining Room Attendant

The Glen is seeking a highly motivated team member to join our Culinary Team as a Private Dining Room Attendant. The Glen, a Life Plan Community is seeking an on-call PRN experienced server for our new Independent Living community. Shift: 2:00 P.M. - 7:00 pm (To work 3 to 4 nights a week) Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday (flexibility is possible)

Essential Functions: Responsible for providing quality food service to residents and guests under sanitary conditions and for providing assistance in all dietary functions as directed in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school or equivalent preferred
• Previous dining room attendant or server experience and/or training preferred
• Completion of ServeSafe course upon hire.
• Must be a people-oriented individual, have excellent oral communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Computer skills appropriate to job tasks include Point-of-Sale system
• Organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to read, speak, write, and follow oral and written instructions

Server Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Greets guests and presents them with the menu
2. Informs guests about the special items for the day and menu changes if any
3. Suggest food and beverages to the guest
4. Take food and beverage orders from the guest on the order taking pads or on the handheld Point of sale (POS) system
5. Obtaining revenues, issuing receipts, accepting payments
6. Performing cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
7. Filling in for absent staff as needed
8. Punch the order on the POS machine and make sure to enter the special requirements made by the guest while ordering the food; (example – no garlic, less spicy, without egg, etc.)
9. Communicate to the guest and provide assistance with their queries
10. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and resident/guest satisfaction
11. Serve food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order
12. Observes guests and ensure their satisfaction with the food and service
13. Promptly respond to guest with any additional request
14. Bus tables when guests leave.
15. Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses
16. Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
17. Must have some familiarity with basic cooking skills; (example – salad preparation, dessert plating, etc.)
18. Assist with stocking and maintain the dining room par stock levels and side station
19. Help other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions for the Take-Out
20. Close the shift on the POS terminal

Other duties assigned by supervisor or manager including but not limited to this list

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to perform in a high-traffic, high-energy environment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; pull, push up to 90 pounds.
• Finger and hand dexterity to operate small equipment and perform job tasks.
• Significant stooping, bending, standing, walking
• Works in warm, humid environment with exposure to sudden temperature changes when entering the freezer or walk-in
